Algebra Concept Inventory (ACI)

Purpose

The ACI is a 62-question instrument that assesses students reasoning abilities and conceptual understanding of concepts central to elementary algebra as well as their confidence for each response.

Population

The ACI was developed to assess algebra skills at the end of high school (secondary education).

Typical Performance

The ACI is a relatively new instrument and does not have an established performance range.

Validity

The ACI is undergoing validation work.  The development is detailed in The Design of an Algebra Concept Inventory (2022)  by Hyland, O’shea, Breen and Nolan
